Lattice regularisation of a non-compact boundary conformal field theory

چکیده
Non-compact Conformal Field Theories (CFTs) are central to several aspects of string theory and condensed matter physics. They characterised, in particular, by the appearance a continuum conformal dimensions. Surprisingly, such CFTs have been identified as limits lattice models with finite number degrees freedom per site. However, results so far restricted case periodic boundary conditions, precluding exploration via non-compact corresponding D-brane constructions. The present paper follows series previous works on $\mathbb{Z}_2$-staggered XXZ spin chain, whose limit is known be CFT related Euclidian black hole sigma model. By using relationship this chain an integrable $D_2^2$ vertex model, we here identify conditions that lead continuous spectrum exponents, thus correspond branes. In context Potts model square lattice, they wired at physical antiferromagnetic critical point. relations parafermion theories discussed well. We also able renormalisation group flow from previously studied compact ones.

Boundary Conformal Field Theory∗
Boundary conformal field theory (BCFT) is simply the study of conformal field theory (CFT) in domains with a boundary. It gains its significance because, in some ways, it is mathematically simpler: the algebraic and geometric structures of CFT appear in a more straightforward manner; and because it has important applications: in string theory in the physics of open strings and D-branes, and in ...
متن کاملBoundary Logarithmic Conformal Field Theory
We discuss the effect of boundaries in boundary logarithmic conformal field theory and show, with reference to both c = −2 and c = 0 models, how they produce new features even in bulk correlation functions which are not present in the corresponding models without boundaries. We discuss the modification of Cardy’s relation between boundary states and bulk quantities. PACS codes: 11.25.Hf, 11.10.Kk
متن کاملParafermionic conformal field theory on the lattice
Finding the precise correspondence between lattice operators and the continuum fields that describe their long-distance properties is a largely open problem for strongly interacting critical points. Here we solve this problem essentially completely in the case of the three-state Potts model, which exhibits a phase transition described by a strongly interacting ‘parafermion’ conformal field theo...
متن کاملLogarithmic conformal field theory with boundary†
This lecture note covers topics on boundary conformal field theory, modular transformations and the Verlinde formula, and boundary logarithmic CFT. An introductory review on CFT with boundary and a discussion of its applications to logarithmic cases are given. LCFT at c = −2 is mainly discussed. This article is based on the lectures at the International Summer School on Logarithmic Conformal Fi...
متن کاملFree fermion representation of a boundary conformal field theory.
The theory of a massless two-dimensional scalar field with a periodic boundary interaction is considered. At a critical value of the period this system defines a conformal field theory and can be re-expressed in terms of free fermions, which provide a simple realization of a hidden SU(2) symmetry of the original theory. The partition function and the boundary S-matrix can be computed exactly as...
